Jaen, on July 19, 1808, a heat of thousand demons. This was the stage of the first big battle of the War of the Independence: the Bailén battle, not far from the field where six centuries earlier the battle, also decisive had escaped, of the Plain mountains of Toulouse. Spain had face the Napoleón French, an army had for invincible until, precisely, it was conquered in Bailén. This day the French knew that Spain was not his, and the Spanish knew that they could recover its nation. Bailén did not close the war, but it opened it. But, especially, it demonstrated Spain and Europe that it was possible to conquer Napoleón.
